D. de aAnalysis of rainfall distribution in the Amazon basin using kriging, nonparametric statistics, and gis techniques. aPhiladelphia: Pennsylvania State Universityc1996 a233p.cil. aPh.D. Thesis. aThe Amazon basin coves an area of 360 350km2 in Northeastern outh America. Sixty-two percent of basin in located in Brazil. This study was undertaken to measure the intensity and timing of wet and dry seasons, climatic deviation patterns, and atmospheric water balance in the Amazon Basin. Analysis of rainfall provides knowledge on the dynamics od water recharge the ecosystem in the Amazon Basin. Rainfall data, collected mailnly from 1950 to 1990, from 533 weather stations were use in tis analysis. The data varied from 4 to 64 years for collection and had an average of 12.1 years per station. Rainfall is normally distribution of extremes are highly asmmetrical, generally being right skewed because the rainfall values are equal to or greater than zero. aAmazonia ameasurement arain aChuva aMedição aPrecipitação Pluvial aBacia amazonica aBrasil aPrecipitation aSistema de Informação Geográfica (SIG) - Distribuição pluviométrica na Bacia Amazônica aSistema de Informação Geográfica (SIG) - Interpolação Kriging
