(L.Jr., 1781). aPorto Alegre: UFRGSc1984 a33p. aTese Mestrado. aUsing strains of Dermatobia hominis the efficacy of pyrethoroids:cyhalothrin, cypermethrin, cypothrin, decamethrin and flumethrin with respective concentrations in ppm of 45, 105, 150, 25 and 30 was determined and compared in vitro and in vivo conditions. In vitro test were performed with larvae of the third stadium collected directly from bovines. To each pyrethroid and also water larvae were immersed during 30 seconds, 2 and 5 minuts. There was no significant statistical difference, at level of 1%, between the group of larvae immersed during 30 seconds, and 2 minutes for each test done. The emulsions of decamethrin and cypermethrin reveald on in vitro test a larvicide effect of 84.4% and 60.8 respectivelly. In vitro teste were done with bovines kept stabled and experimentally exposed to larvae of first stadium of D. hominis. After 30 days the larvae were counted and 5 liters of each emulsion and water was applied to each animal. The decamethrin and cypermethrin also were most efficacy with mortality rates of 30.6% and 14.1%. Also these drugs showed an expulsive effect to larvae of 17.6% and 15.4%. The others pyrethroids had not effect at all. In both conditions, cyhalothrin, cypothrin and flumethrin when compared with water did not show any difference. aDermatobia Hominis
