Livestock farmers often make decisions in a challenging environment where objective data is scarce and noisy, while having to deal with climate changes, phenotypical differences between animals, as well as other factors. Objective planning based on animal growth data and productivity forecast still lacks instrumentation with robust and scalable technologies. Taking advantage of the increasingly common technologies for automated data collection, this research proposes the use of data assimilation techniques, in conjunction with animal growth data, to improve forecasts produced by animal growth models, thus enabling the planning of pastoral systems in a livestock system. The animal growth data was obtained using scales that automatically measure livestock weight several times a day, identifying individuals through RFID earrings.
