T.  aAvaliação morfométrica de cabritos da raça Saanen criados no Semiárido nordestino.  c2012  aResumo: O estudo foi realizado com a finalidade de avaliar o perfil morfométrico de cabritos da raça Saanen desmamados em diferentes idades. O trabalho foi conduzido na Fazenda Experimental da Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú ? FAEX/UVA, em Sobral, Ceará. Foram utilizados 12 cabritos da raça Saanen distribuídos aleatoriamente de acordo com o nascimento em dois tratamentos (60 e 70 dias). Os animais foram alimentados artificialmente com um litro de leite caprino e bovino em diferentes proporções. Na última semana que antecedeu o desmame foi oferecida uma dieta sólida constituída por 150g/animal/dia de concentrado e feno Tifton (Cynodon spp.) e água à vontade. Foram realizadas semanalmente em cada animal as mensurações das medidas morfométricas. As alturas das cernelhas e garupas foram medidas com uma régua simples graduada ajustável ao animal. Para os comprimentos corporais, perímetros torácicos e abdominais usou-se uma fita métrica. Não houve diferença entre as medidas morfométricas para ambas as idades de desmame. As diferentes idade de 60 dias (8,77 kg) e 70 dias (9,44 kg) não interferiu no desenvolvimento corporal dos animais. As medidas morfométricas é uma ferramenta adicional para a caracterização da raça e indispensável para o processo de melhoramento genético, contribuindo para o conhecimento da conformação e funcionalidade do animal.  [Morphometric Evaluation of Goat kids of Saanen Breed Bred in the Semiarid of Northeast]. Abstract: The study was realized in order to evaluate the morphometric profile of goat kids fed with bovine milk and weaned at different age. The study was conducted at the Fazenda Experimental of the Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú ? FAEX/UVA, in Sobral, Ceará. Used 12 Saanen goats randomly distributed according to the birth in two treatments (60 and 70 days). The animals was artificially fed with a liter of bovine and goat milk in different proportion. In the last week prior to weaning of each treatment was offered a solid diet consisting of concentrate with 150g/animal/day and hay Tifton (Cynodon spp.) and water at will. Was taken weekly from each animal the morphometric measures. The height of withers and of croup were measured with a simple ruler graduated adjustable to animal. The body length, and circumference abdominal and chest was measured with a tape measure. There was no difference between the morphometric measurements for both weaning age. The different age at 60 days (8,77 kg) and 70 days (9,44 kg) did not affect the body development.
