B. aParbendazole. Effect on Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia circumcincta, Trichostrongylus colubriformis and Nematodirus battus in experimentally-infected lambs. c1968 aTwo preparations of oral parbendazole at 15 mg per kg were each 100% effective in removing 3 day larvae, 10-day larvae and adult H. contortus and T. colubriformis from experimentally infected lambs. Parabendazole I, the preparation with the larger particle size, removed 84, 96 and 100% of 3-day larvae, 10-day larvae and adult O. circumcincta respectively: parbendazole II, with the smaller particle size, was equally effective against adult O. circumcincta but was more effective against larval stages, removing 94% of 3-day larvae and 100% of 10-day larvae. With N. battus parabendazole III, with smaller particle size than either parabendazole I or n, at 30 mg per kg was 99, 97 and 89% effective against 3 day larvae, 10-day larvae and adults respectively. At 15 mg per kg, although both parbendazole I and II were over 90% effective against 3-day larvae, there was considerably less avtivity against 10-day larvae and adults. Parbendazole III at 22.5 mg per kg also had poor activity against 10-day larvae and adults of N. battus. aLambs aNematodirus battus aSheep aTeladorsagia circumcincta aHaemonchus Contortus aExperimental infection tThe Veterinary Recordgv. 82, n. 25, p. 731-735, Jun. 1968.
