O presente trabalho teve como objetivo testar estratégias de manejo do deficit de irrigação, evidenciando a técnica de secamento parcial do sistema - PRD, e avaliando os impactos na produção de frutos, na eficiência de uso de água (EUA) e no omprtamento fisiológico de plantas de lima ácida "Tahiti" com 5 anos de idade nas condições semi-áridas de Iaçu-BA. Os tratamentos avaliados foram: T1, T2, T3 (PRD 50% ETc) com a posição do microaspersor em relação a planta alternada a cada 7, 14 e 21 dias respectivamente, molhando-se lados opostos do sietma radicular; T4 (DI 50% ETc) a irrigação fixa em um só lado utilizando um microaspersor por planta; T5 - testemunha (100% ETc) a irrigação foi fixa com dois microaspersores por planta; e o T6 (DI 25% ETc) a cada intervalo de 21 dias, alternou-se o uso entre 1 e 2 microaspersores por planta. Verificou-se significativamente (P<0,5) maiores produtividades para os tratamentos T5 e T6 com 213, 16 e 22,49 t/ha/ano, respectivamente, bem como maiores valores de condutância estomática e transpiração. A estrtaégia de PRD não apresentou vantagem sobre o tratamento om defict fixo. Mesmo com redução na produtividade, os tratamentos com déficit hodríco T1 e T4, apresentaram maiores valores para EUA com 9,32 e 9,48 kg/m³, respectivamente. Dentre os tratamentos de PRD, o T1 respondeu fisiologicamente com maior controle estomático em relação aos demais e apresentou maior produtividade, 17,12 t/ha/ano. A produção foi afetda com defict de 25% sendo uma alternativa viável para o aumento da eficiência do uso da água no pomar. Depedendo do custo/escassez da água, um déficit hídrico de 50% pode se adotado, esperando-se redução de 30% na produtividade. The aim of the present study was to characterize the physical-chemical and sensory attributes of two papaya varieties (Aliança and Golden THB) (Carica papaya L.) coated with different solutions of manioc starch and clove essential oil (Syzygium aromaticum L. Merr. et Perry). Four different treatments were studied in papaya fruits at ripening stage 1: T0 (control); T1 (fruits coated with a solution of manioc starch); T2 (fruits coated with clove essential oil at 0.175 mL L-1); T3 (solution of manioc starch with clove essential oil-0.175 mL L-1). The physical-chemical and sensory analyses were conducted in the fruits at ripening stage 5. The edible coatings did not influence the physical-chemical characteristics of the two varieties. Those fruits coated with manioc starch reported a good sensory acceptance not differing statistically from the control fruits in the majority of the attributes studied. By evaluating the purchase intention regarding the variety Aliança, all the treatments reported good levels of acceptance, with higher scores in the option "would certainly buy". After the sensory evaluation, treatment T3 reported a purchase intention of 80%. It was concluded that the edible coatings did not influence the physical-chemical characteristics of the fruits, however, they influenced the sensory acceptance of the tasters. For the variety Aliança, the application of treatment T3 is recommended, while for Golden THB, treatments T1 and T2 are recommended due to their similarity to the control.
