In the study, the hypothesis associated diversity, abundance and biomass of earthworms and
coleopterans of soil with physical ? chemical parameters in 24 land uses try and connect this
information with the landscape structure of the agricultures of the La Vieja watershed, Cauca
Valley, Colombian Coffee Region.
In the study a map was chosen, with a non probabilistic random systemic design, six grids of
one km2 with 16 testing points at 200 m of distance inside each window, located in the
transportation subsystem in the La Vieja watershed. The marking points where located in the
fields of 48 farms with the help of a GPS, and the monoliths were constructed to test some
macro invertebrates according to the method used by TSBF.
The methodology of sampling with the approach of landscape allowed valuing some farms as
biodiversity conservation spaces of earthworms and coleopterans of soil. It was obtained paths
and mosaics characteristics and some soil variables. These tools permit to draw three patterns
of course intensity gradients land use and change in the management and establishment of the
agroecosystems in the landscape level with the use of geostatistics.
31 species of earthworms were found in the soils, all situated in four families and 12 genera,
from which fifteen (15) are native, nine (9) are exotic and seven (7) in juvenile stage. The species
that belong to the ecological epigeics categories (22) and endogeics (9), most of them (14) live
on the 0 ? 20 cm layer, with an average vertical distribution of 7.5 cm in depth. The abundance
values of worms allowed a separation of conserved vs degraded land use, with worm species
as change indicators. Important differences were found (p < 0.05) in the relationship between
land use, abundance and number of species. The conclusion was that earthworms are stable
