Conducting polymers have become one of the most studied materials since their discovery in 1977. One main reason wich could explain such an enormous interest from the scientific
and industrial communities for these polymers is related to their ability to combine the properties of polymeric systems with metalic and inorganic materials, such as elatrical conductivity, electrochromism and electroluminescense. This unique combination of properties has been exploited in different technological applications, wich includes microeletronic devices (diodes and transitors), chemical and biological sensors, artificial nerves and muscles, anti-static and anti-corrosion coatings, etc. Moreover the synthesis of conducting polymers is easily carried out and polymers with controlled chemical structure and properties are obtained. |
