In the seven-year period 1982-1988 two three-year crop rotation systems (corn-corn-soybean and corn-soybean-wheat) and one sole-crop system (corn) were compared, with decreasing doses os nitrogen fertilization for two cereals. It was noted a positive effect of crop rotation regarding the increased yield of the soybean with an autumn-winter cereal in the crop rotation system. The nitrogen fertilization level can be reduced for the cereal, rotated with soybean, without a significant reduction in yield. Grain yield and energy production were essentially homogeneous in corn inserted in various rotations. Only the first yield of corn after soybean was slightly higher (+6.6%). Therefore, in a short cycle rotation, corn proved to be a crop which could temporarily ta-ke advantage of the so-called "soybean effect"", allied both to nutritonal factors, consisting of a nitrogen release of about 30-60 Kg*ha-1, and to the little known phenomenon of allelopathy and other effects of rotation. As energy concerns, rotation which includes corn, in comparison to a sole-corn crop, has a greater productive stability than that which includes wheat. |
