Ticks are the most important blood-feeding ectoparasites distributed widely that can affect humans, cattle production and wild animal. The objective of this study was to employ next-generation sequencing platform and the bTEFAP technique to characterize 16S bacterial diversity in the tick Rhipicephalus microplus. The source of the adult male and female ticks was from an outbreak of R. microplus on the La Gabiota Ranch, Starr County, TX. Raw data from bTEFAP was screened and trimmed based upon quality scores and binned into individual sample collections. The number of total identified genus in ticks showed, 56 genus of bacteria from male adult, 61bacteria genus were identified from female adult, 11 bacteria were found from tick gut, 7 bacteria genus from de ovary and 54 bacteria genus were found in eggs. Bacteria genera related with pathogen in samples were: Wolbachia, Staphylococcus, Coxiella, Corinebacterium, Enterococcus, Pseudomonas, Clostridium, Serratia, Borrelia, Streptococcus, Klebsiella, Moraxella, Enterobacter, Shiguella and Neisseria. The results of this work contribute with information related with quality and amount of bacteria that can be circulating between cattle tick Rhipicephalus microplus and host as a potential pathogen. |
