The family Leguminosae comprises approximately 20,000 species that mostly form symbio-ses with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and nitrogen-fixing bacteria (NFB). This studyis aimed at investigating and confirming the dependence on nodulation and biologicalnitrogen fixation in the specie Piptadenia gonoacantha (Mart.) Macbr., which belongs to thePiptadenia group. Two consecutive experiments were performed in a greenhouse. The experi-ments were fully randomized with six replicates and a factorial scheme. For the treatments,the two AMF species and three NFB strains were combined to nodulate P. gonoacantha inaddition to the control treatments. The results indicate this species? capacity for nodula-tion without the AMF; however, the AMF + NFB combinations yielded a considerable gainin P. gonoacantha shoot weight compared with the treatments that only included inocu-lating with bacteria or AMF. The results also confirm that the treatment effects amongthe AMF + NFB combinations produced different shoot dry weight/root dry weight ratios.We conclude that AMF is not necessary for nodulation and that this dependence improvesspecies development because plant growth increases upon co-inoculation. |

o presente estudo teve como objetivo, avaliar o desempenho de Eucalyptus c;tnodora; E. teretieom;s; E. urophilla; E. camaldulens;s; E. robusta; E. urogrand;s e E. c/oeziana, em regiao de Floresta Estacional Decidual no municipio de Candido Sales na regiao Sudoeste da Bahia, Brasil. Foram adotados 7 tratamentos correspondentes as espécies acima mencionadas. A avalial'ao do desempenho das plantas no campo, aos 15 meses do plantio, constou da mensura<;80 da altura da parte aérea e diametro ao nivel do solo, efetuadas por meio de vara graduada e paqurmetro digital, respectivamente. Para todos os resultados obtidos, as médias dos tratamentos foram comparadas pelo teste de Duncan ao nivel de 95% de probabilidade. De acordo com os resultados obtidos conclui-se que as espécies, Eucalyptus tereticornis e E. camaldu/ensis apresentaram os maiores valores de altura e diametra, senda consideradas aptas para integrarem projetos de reflorestamento na região. |
