The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological characteristics and rhizofltration potential of Talinum paniculatum cuttings subjected to lead (Pb) and manganese (Mn) excess. The cuttings excised from T. paniculatum were transferred to a nutrient solution, to which diferent concentrations of Pb (0, 10, 50, 100, and 200 mg L−1) and Mn (0, 10, 50, 100, and 150 mg L−1) were added. The treatments were maintained for 30 days, then the roots and shoots were collected for the following analyses: biometry, root morphology, antioxidant enzyme activity, and lipid peroxidation. Gas exchange, relative chlorophyll content, and chlorophyll a fuorescence were analyzed at the beginning and end of the experiment. The tolerance index of T. paniculatum cuttings was over 70% for Pb and Mn. The root morphology and antioxidant system activity were the most related to the plant tolerance to excess Pb and Mn. T. paniculatum cuttings showed rapid rooting and growth, increased dry matter accumulation, high Pb and Mn accumulation in roots, and high resistance to Pb and Mn exposure in the hydroponic solution. Taking together, combined with the short life cycle, those characteristics suggest the potential of T. paniculatum use for rhizofltration of Pb and Mn. |

RESUMO: O presente trabalho é um estudo exploratório sobre a criação e utilização de aves diferentes de galinhas pelos agricultores do Grupo Bem-Estar, no Assentamento 72 em Ladário, MS. Foram entrevistadas 7 mulheres e um homem que cuidam da produção de aves. Destes apenas uma não tem aves diferentes de galinhas. As aves encontradas foram galinhas de angola em 5 propriedades, patos em 3 propriedades, perus em 2 e gansos e codornas em uma propriedade. Dentre estas, são comercializados patos abatidos e ovos de codorna, porém há potencial para venda de galinhas de angola e perus. Embora tenham potencial de geração de renda para as famílias, alguns agricultores estão desistindo daprodução devido a problemas de manejo e mortalidade dos animais. ABSTRACT: The present work is an exploratory study on the creation and use of birds other than chickens by farmers of the Grupo Bem-Estar, in the Assentamento 72 in Ladário, MS. Seven women and one man who take care of poultry production were interviewed. Of these, only one does not have poultry other than chickens. The birds found were guinea fowls on 5 farms, ducks on 3 farms, turkeys on 2 and geese and quails on one property. Among these, slaughtered ducks and quail eggs are commercialized, but there is potential for the sale of guinea fowls and turkeys. Althoughthey have the potential to generate income for families, some farmers are giving up their production due to problems of management and mortality of animals. |
