In this study, the faecal samples of 578 animals (322 sheep and 256 goats) of indigenous, exotic and crossbred sheep and goats of different age groups were examined for parasitic infection by adopting standard methods (Whitelock. 1948). In India, Dhar ct al., (1982) surveyed Kasmir vallley, Gupta et al., (1988) reported helminths in Hariyama state, Jain (1968) reported from Mhow and Burhanpur (M.P.), while Misra et al. 1997 from Orissa. The animals screened for the present study were 70, 31, 55, 27, and 73 goats from Goat Breeding Farms situated at Veterinary College, Mhow, Rhudia (Khargoan), Agar (Ujjain), Gawali Palasia village and Padora (Shivpuri) respcctively, and sheep were from Sheep Breeding Farm Bansakhedi (Mandsaur) and Padora (Shivpuri) and their numbers were 92 and 230 respectively. The results revaled that 415 animais ( 218 sheep and 197 goats) were found positive for parasitic infection.ln sheep, maximum number, 163 (74.77%.) positive cases were found to be of Trichostrongvlus sp. Next comes Haemonchu,s sp. for which 160(73.39%) cases, 65(29.81%.) cases for Oesophagostomum sp. 22(10,09%) cases for Strongyloides sp., 9 cases (4.13%) for Trichuris sp, were found positive. Four cases each of Oestertagia sp. and Gaigeria sp., i.e. 1.83% cases were found positive. In goats, maximum numbcr, 160 (81.21 %) cases were found to be of Trichostrongylus sp., next comes Haemonchus sp. of which 146 (74.11%) cases, 33 (16.75%) cases of Trichuris sp., 32 (16.24%) cases of OeoS'ophagostomum sp. and Strongvloides ,sp., 9.64% cases were found positive. Two cases of Bunostomum sp. i.e. 1.01% were found positive .
