High chemical resistance materials as glass porous membranes become increasingly interesting with respect to applications in pharmaceutics, medicine and biotechnology. In particular the possibility to enhance filtration effectiveness by combination of conventional separation process and biological catalysis by use of immobilized enzymes is a very desired clean-up technology. In this work is presented and discussed aspects of manufacture and microstructure of open-pore sintered soda lime glasses, as well as the appropriated surface treatment for enzymes immobilization. |
