Soybean growth and development were studied in indeterminate, semideterminate and determinate growing habits. Taking on account, that one of the mos recent objectives in the breeding programs of the main argentine soybean area is, the introduction of the indeterminate growing character to varieties from Group V, for its possible adaptability to unfavourable conditions. There were no significant differences between varieties neither in the total leaf area nor in the number of ramificatins. Significant differences were observed in ramifications and main stem contributions to the total dry weight. The indeterminate showed more nodes and shorter ramifications; and also presented more superposition between the vegetative and reproductive stages, and a larger bloo-ming period. |
