ABSTRACT: Corn EM is influenced by the variability of the physical and chemical composition of the grain, however, feed formulation still considers average values, based on feed composition tables. The impact analysis of the real-time determination of EM at the corn was carried out through a simulation study based on the requirements of broilers from 0 to 21 (3,000 Kcal) and from 22 to 42 days (3,200 kcal), and on the prediction equations of body weight (PC) and feed conversion (CA). For the purpose of simulation the following EM's values from corn were considered: 3,031; 3,081; 3,131; 3,181; 3,263; 3,313; 3,363; 3,413 and 3,463 kcal/kg. These values were incorporated into the feed formulated based on the mean corn EM composition and the performance was estimated based on the prediction equations. In addition to the productive performance, the cumulative system effect was incorporated, since the operational cost is basically fixed. For the simulation purposes, was considered 22 days of slaughter/month, 150 thousand broilers slaughter/day, density 14 birds/m2, viability of 97% and carcass yield 83%. The impact at the end of the process was 10.61% (3,031), 8.53% (3,081), 6.49% (3,131), 4.50% (3,181), -0.65 (3,313), -2.50% (3,363), -4.32% (3,413) and -6.11% (3,463). The simulation results are indicating that the use of tools to determinate of the EM in the real-time allows improvements in the broiler performance and, consequently, reduction in the production cost. One of the most serious problems in areas indicated for irrigation projects in the Brazilian Northeast region is the occurrence of sandy soils, known to have low moisture retention, but occurring in strategic locations in terms of water supply and geographical situation, and which can be used for agricultural purposes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of particle size distribution and porosity on the water retention capacity of sandy soils in the semiarid area of the Northeast region. Soil bulk and particle densities, total porosity (macro, meso and microporosity), field capacity, permanent wilting point and soil-water retention curve were determined in samples of surface (A) and subsurface (C or Bw) horizons of ten sandy soil profiles. Particle size was determined subdividing the sand fraction into five classes. Higher amounts of the medium and fine sand fractions of the studied soils oriented their physical and hydric characteristics, being responsible for their great water retention. The arrangement of the fine silt, clay, fine sand and very fine sand particles may have provided a diversity of pore sizes and a good pore distribution, being responsible for the large proportion of micropores in the soils, allowing great water retention capacities. |
