There types of fruit are known to attack ripening mangoes in the Eastern Transvaal Lowveld, namely the Natal fruit fly ceratitis rosa, the Mediterranean fruit fly ceratitis cisyra. Mangoes can be severely damaged by the females laying eggs in the fruit and by the maggots (larvae) which then develop in the flesh of the fruit. |
