The monthly mean stronglye ova counts of calves at ANSA Cattle and Crop Farms are presented. Initial egg counts of calves born during the dry months were very low in contrst to those born during the wet months, which were high. Early infections consisted of Strongyloides sp. and Cooperia sp. Other trichostrongyloid infections occurred ata later periods but never reached high levels of infection as did Cooperia sp. The latter persisted in the calves at low levels even when the calves were already over one year old. A de-
worming program for calves raised under Type III climatic zone is discussed. |
