The monthly mean strongyle ova counts of 20 calves with ages ranging from 1-5 months were studied. Highest e.p.g. counts were observed when animals were 2-4 months old and sonsisted mainly of Stringyloides, Cooperia, Oesophagostomum and Bunostomum infection.
Strongyloides infection disappeared when calves were 6-7 months of age. Two secondary peaks coiunciding with the rainfall occurring in June and November were observed and these were mainly due to an increase in the Oesophagostomum, Bunostomum and Haemonchus ova in the feces. The Verandia Ranch, which falls under Type III climatic zone, was found favorable for the development of Strongyloides, Cooperia, Oesophagos-
tomum, Bunostomum and Haemonchus infections. |
