The main problems hindering rapid Hevea improvement in the East are outliend. The RRIM breeding and selection strategies to alleviate these include : widening of the genetic base in general; shortening breeding and selection cycles; exploiting synergistic approaches by using suitable hybrid crowns; promoting fruit set; broadening the basc for field resistance to diseases particularly to SALB; and improving the methods os planting recommendations. |
