During the development of the Acacia paniculata Willd. fruit can be distinguished four periods of growth, taking as a basis the differentiation of the sclerenchymatous mesocarp. In the Period I was considered the ovary's structure and anatropous, bitegmic, crassinucellate ovule. In the Periods II and III the ovary differenciates in the young fruit, which was caracterized by activity of a ventral meristem of the inner layer of the pericarp and by the precursory of the sclerenchymatous mesocarp in stage of cell enlargement, respectively; the seed consists of imature integuments, the nucellus, zygote, nuclear endosperm and long funiculus. The Period IV was caracterized by mature and ripening fruit, in which the sclerenchymatous mesocarp cells are lignified fibres; the seed consists of testa with macrosclereids hypodermis of colunar cells and parenchyma, inner integument and embryo. |
