Abstract: All 143 farmer respondents of Amritsar Intensive Cattle Development Project"" were awate of breeding impit but not of feeding inputs". Both formal and informal communication sources were almost equally utilized in awarecess stage. Informal communication sources were utilized more in interest and adoption stages. However in trial stage, relatively comparatible innovations like feeding input clustered around informal communication sources in contrast to breeding inut more formal communication sources were contaced. For promotion of animal production inputs, therefore, animal husbandry extension programmes should give due consiferation to implications of formal/informal communication sources as associated with stages is adoption. Adoption of an innovation is seldom an impulsive decision, rather it is a process with well-defined stages comprising it. Potential adopters do pass through various adoption stages, and the most aceepted of the stages of awareness, interest, evaluation, trial and adoption. It was hypothesized that farmers utilized different communication sources at various stages of adoption process and patterns of communication sources, utilization of communication source, utilization were inbfluenced by the bature of innovation. |
