In Brazil as in the rest of the world, sectors of production and commercialization of animal originated foods, are changing to attend the two highst marcket demands: competitivity and quality. These exigencies are specially related to healthy foods. So the use of products that leave residues in meat and/or milk is going to be more restritive in an animal production system pointed to sustentability with lower environmental risks. Factors such as: pasture seasonal fluctuations, nutricional defficiencies, management conditions, high parasites incidence and general diseases contribuited to reduction of production and productivity of bovines. Verminosis is the name to the infections caused by endoparasites. In the tropics, these deseases usually show low mortality rates, and as so, are wrongly not faced as a serious problem. Regarding ectoparasites, the tick Boophilus microplus is one of the main sanitary constraint. Together with blood lost, the ticks also cause leather injuries and economical losts due to the direct and indirect costs with measures of control. In Brazil, the tick is also the vector of two serious parasitic diseases: babesiosis and anaplasmosis. The economical lost produced by B. microplus in our country can be of the order of a billion dollars a year. The hom fly Haematobia irritans is present arround the country and has being indicated as responsible for serious economical losts. The yearly lost due to the fly is the order of 150 millions dollars. In order to attend the consumers claimming for a healtier food and also to obtain an ecologically preserved environment, it is necessary a new approach on the present situation of an exclusive use of the chemical control of parasites. There are different options such as: extracts of plants, measures of management, breeds, etc. This publication presents suggestions for the control of parasites preserving the quality of animal protein with lower environmental risks.
