In this paper the present state of development of a technique for non-surgical embryo collection in goats is presented. After superovulation and insemination, does are immobilized in a crate in a standing position. A catheter of 3.8 mm outer diameter is passed through the cervix with the aid of Allis forceps. The average time required for flushing a doe is 40 min. Recovery rates achieved are comparable with those experienced with those experienced with conventional surgical flushing, provided luteolysis was induced aboud 20 h beforehand. Embryos recovered by this approach were successfully used for transfer. The technique has no adverse effect on subsequent fertility of donors |
