For two and a half years, analyses were made of the causes of death of 987 larvae, 59 pupae and 429 adults of Pachnaeus litus Germar obtained from sterilized and nonsterilized soils from both experimental nursery and field samplings. The following natural enemies were found: nematodes, annelids, fungi, bacteria, microsporides and tachynids. Some new natural enemies of this dangerous citrus pest were discovered which, in the future, may be used as biotic elements in integrated control programs. The incidences of each pathogen in the larvae, pupae and adults from each of the four types of samplings were compared. |
