[Effect of successive superovulatory treatments with pFSH upon the ovulatory response and embryo production of Boer goats and subsequent embryo survival following embryo implantation in recipients of undetermined race].
Abstract: This study evaluated the effect of successive superovulatory treatments with pFSH upon the production of embryos in Boer goats. Five pluriparous Boer donators were used. The number of ovulations ranged from 9,8 to 0,8 on the average, with a significant difference observed from the third treatment on, indicating that treatment repetition affects ovulatory response. Ovulation decreased proportionally with the production of embryos. However, the parameters of subsequent stages, such as embryo survival and birth survival, were not significantly associated with treatment repetitions, nor with the morphological characteristics of the retrieved embryos.
