PIGFLOW is intended to assist pork producers in managing the flow of animals through their facilities. The program takes a trial and error approach to determining the best schedule for an operation. The user is prompted for the number and size of farrowing rooms, number of open days needed between farrowing, average and seasonal low conception rates expected, the desired date when the first sow group enters farrowing on this schedule, etc. PIGFLOW was completed in 1992. Over 200 copies have been sold to producers or agribusiness personnel qcross the midwest. PIGFLOW is a compiled spreadsheet template developed for on PC compatile computers with at least 512K of memory free. Color graphics and a hard disk are not required. PIGFLOW is available at cost from the farm building plan service at purdue University. |
