Cratylia argentea is a neotropical leguminous shrub that exhibits symbiosis with nitrogen (N) fixing bacteria and high levels of protein. Thus, it has potential for animal feed and green manure. In spite of its potential, few cultivars are registered for the species and there is little information in regard to its interaction with N-fixing microorganisms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of inoculation with rhizobium strains on the growth and concentration of N in Cratylia rgentea. Seeds were inoculated with two strains of Rhizobium sp.,CR 33 (BR10243) and CR42 (BR10244), and four strains of Bradyrhizobium sp., CR52 (BR10257), CPACB10, SEMIA 6464 (BR3262), and SEMIA 6462 (BR3267), and sown in pots filled with sand and vermiculite in a greenhouse. After 150 days we evaluated the number of nodules, shoot and nodules dry matter, total nitrogen and crude protein contents for the shoots. The plants inoculated with CR 52 exhibited nodulation, with nodular efficiency of 0.189 and relative efficiency of 66.14%; it is possible to observe the effect of nodulation as of 85 days after sowing. Based on the obtained results it was identified the strain that showed symbiosis with C. argentea and presents potential to be used as a commercial inoculant. |

Abstract: Sewage sludge can be recycled in agricultural soil as a source of plant nutrients and in order to increase the organic matter content. The objective of this study was to characterize the organic fraction of sewage sludge (contents of carbon, nitrogen and total organic and inorganic phosphorus; concentrations of protein, fat, fiber, phenol and tannin) in order to assist in planning their use in agriculture. Five types of sewage sludge with differences were used for the later stages of chemical conditioning and / or complementary treatment for dehydration, three from anaerobic process: lime and ferric chloride, mechanically dehydrated (LAC); synthetic polymer and dehydrated mechanically (LAP); synthetic polymer and thermally dehydrated (LAS), and two aerobic digestion process: etching synthetic polymers with drying beds (LLP); LLP after the composting process in aerated piles mixed with bagasse from sugar and urban pruning debris, sludge compost (CL). The conditioning polymer and heat drying the organic matter retained in the residue, which was evidenced by the presence of higher concentrations of readily degradable organic compounds and carbon (337.24 g kg-1), nitrogen (39.02 g kg-1) and phosphorus (2.93 g kg-1) in the organic compartment. In all sludge was significant participation of the protein content in organic matter, which was approximately 43, 42, 28 and 25% for sewage sludge LAC, LAP, LAS, LLP and CL, respectively.
