This investigation involves planning and analysis of field experiments with the purpose of validation and technology adjustments on large plots without repetitions. Emphasis was made on determination of adequate size of commercial plots according to the crop. Four methods were compared: Law of variance of Fairfield-Smith, serial correlation, spatial correlation and the semivariograms. Sizes of the sampling units and apropiate samples are discussed. For the adjustments were suggested the following methods: Papadakis, Moving Blocks of Wilkinson, under the approach of the near neighbour analysis and Series of Fourier in two dimensions, and they were compared among them and with the approximated analysis of variance without adjustments. The comparisons used the information of a trial of carrot (Daucus carota L.), led under an experimental-commercial arrangement (EXCO). As a result a commercial plot of one hundred the size of the effective experimental unit under intensive conditions according to the Smith modeling techniques provides satisfactory results. Desirable size an appropriate sampling are strategies that provide inductive basis to the large plot experiments without repetitions also in cases of analysis of variance without adjustments. The adjustment methods improves precision but generated bias on the estimates. Papadakis improved precision with smaller bias. |
