During the period of the study 1952 plants or sites were sampled at 229 plantings of 34 different crops. A summary of the parasitc nematodes associated with these crops is given in table 1, and a brief discussion of the findings is given under the following crop headings. In addition to parasitic nematodes, non-parasitic types were classified under headings of aphelenchoidids, Tylenchus, Ditylenchus, dorylaims other than Xiphinema and Trichodorus, saprophages, mononchs, Psilenchus, and Boleodorus. The first five mentioned were present in almost every sample processed. Mononchs were quite common, being present in about 75 percent of the samples. Psilenchus were uncommon and few in numbers, occurring in association with such crops as citrus, cacao, coconut, coffee, rice and yam. |
