The last Annual Review article summarizing research on ethylene biosynthesis appeared in 1984 (131). It captured the great progress that had been made following the discovery that l-aminocyclopropane-l-carboxylic acid (ACC) was the precursor of ethylene (3,69). Ethylene biosyntesis has been reviewed more recently elsewhere (50, 57, 72, 78, 118), and proceedings of symposia devoted to ethylene have summarized advances in all areas of ethylene research (23, 34, 90, 101). Two recently published books rthylene give a comprehensive coverage of the field (1, 71). |
