The mineral composition of healthy plants and those affected by citrus blight was studied in 11-year-old orange trees [Citrus sinensis (L) Osbeck cv. Parson Brown] grafted on sour orange rootstock (C. aurantium L.), and planted in a red ferralitic soil at the Estacion Nacional de Frutales in southern Havana Province. Samples of leaves, branches, trunk and roots were collected and analyzed for N, P. K, Ca and Na. The concentrations of these elements from each tissue source were compared in regard to tree conditions. Significant variations for some elements and tissues are reported. |

ABSTRACT - Sixty-four Landrace pigs (32 barrows and 32 females) were used in an experiment to evaluate 0, 2,4 and 6% levels of commercial swine blood meal in swine dieta during growing-finishing period. The results of average daily gain during the whole period (25-95kg) were 693. 709, 714 and 705 grama, to the levels from 0% to 6% respectively, and the differences among them were not significant (P > 0.05). The average feed intake (Y = 2.156 + 0.038 X) and the feed/gain ratio (Y = 3.0733 + 0.0489 X) increased (P < 0.05) when the level of blood meal in the diet increased from 0% to 6%. It was concluded that the blood meal used in this experiment was not suitable to replace at any level the protein supplied by the soybean meal.
