Soybean one of the classical plants in studies of photoperiodism is a short-day plant. Because of the reaction to photoperiodism, the soybean cultivars are usually adapted to narrow belts of latitude and sensitive to changes in date ofplanting. Genotypes with long juvenile characteristic have been identified. The use of this trait in breeding soybean cultivars is discussed. |
