Piper aduncum L. (Piperaceae) can be easily found in the western region of the Brazilian Amazon, more specifically in the state of Acre. Its essential oil (EOPA) has an insecticial activity particularly related to one of its compounds, dillapiole, involved in teh enzymatic detoxification in arthropods. However, there are no data relatind the dillapiolle content to the insecticidal activity of EOPA, wich is necessary to establish reliable dose-activity parameters for formulated products. Thus, the pbjetcive of this study was to stablish the relation between the dillapiole content and the insecticidal activity of EOPA. |

Cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] is an important socioeconomic crop in Brazil, mainly in the Northeast and more recently in the Midwest of Brazil. Charcoal rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid, is an important disease in semiarid regions, where edaphoclimatic conditions are favorable to the development of disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the response of 100 cowpea lines to two isolates of M. phaseolina. |
