This work aimed at improving the hydrolysis process fot the production of alcohol from fibrous cassava waste. The initial starch concentration the suspension, the use of complementary enzymes in the hydrolysis process, andd the washing process for sugar recuperation were all evaluated. The results indicated the best yield in the hydrolysis process using 6% starch and complementary enzymes (96.2%). The treatment using 12% starch and complementary enzymes was the best with respect to alcohol production giving a yield of 84.3% and a hydrolyzate of 12oBrix, it not being necessary to concentrate for fermentation. Washing to recuperate sugar is not viable sue to the great dilution of the hydrolyzate. The use of complementary enzymes facilitated the action of amylase and gave a better process yield. |
