The Tropical Aquatic Humic Substances studied showed predominant composition of fulvic acids. The condensation and humification degree, obtained from fluorescence spectra, were higher in the HA fraction when compared to FA fraction and AHS. The relative fluorescence intensity for the samples was significantly decreased with the increasing of chlorine dose and reaction time. Combined data of fluorescence and size exclusion chromatography suggested that FA molecules after reaction with chlorine present a decrease of the apparent molecular size. |
