To mevaluate the importance of organic and inorganic components liberated during the decomposition of aquatic macrophytes to the metabolism of lobo reservoir, experiments with 2 species of macrophytes Nimphoides indica (O. Kuntze) and Pntederia cordata (L.) were carried out under laboratory conditions. Fourteen beakers containing filtered water from the reservoir were added with biomass of N. indica in the same proportion as found in the reservoirs. The same was done to P. cordata. Ten more beakers without plants were used for controls. After1; 2; 3; 3,5; 4; 4,5; 5; 6; 7; 8; 11; 14; 17 and 21 days, pH, eletric conductivity, dissolved organic carbon, particulate organic carbon, water color, dissolved carbohydrates, poliphenols, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, dissolved organic N, orthophosphate, dissolved P, and total P were analysed. The results show significative increased in the values of all parameters analysed, e.g. the eletric conductivity of waters with P. cordata increased from 11,5 to 555 uS. cm-1. The liberation velocity of organic and inorganic components was shown to be more rapid in waters with N. indica. From the results we may conclude that N. indica is of greath importance to the metabolism of Broa reservoir, since it has greather biomass and higher recycling rates. |
