[Intake and performance of sheep fed diets containing different levels of hulls of castor]. Abstract: To evaluate the intake and performance of diets with of four substitution levels (0; 33; 67 and 100%) of castor hulls (CH) by tifton-85 hay (TH) in sheep rations in crossbreed Morada Nova male lambs, not castrated, with mean body weight of 20,3 kg and 7 months of age this study was undertaken. A completely randomized design with four treatments and five replicates (lambs) was used. The roughage:concentrate ratio was 50:50. The termination occurred during 70 days, being 14 days of adaptation and 56 days of collect. It were observed differences between the substitution levels to the dry matter intake (g/sheep/day, %LW and g/kg 0,75), total weight gain, average daily gain and the days to reach 12 kg, where it was observed that the 100% supplementation level was inferior in relation the others, being the inverse occurring to D12. There was observed decreasing linear effect of substitution levels on all variables, except to D12, that presented increasing linear effect. The feed conversion not presented difference between the treatments, with an average of 6.1 kg of concentrate consumed to gain 1 kg of LW. Notwithstanding have a progressive reduction on intake and performance with substitution of tifton-85 hay by castor hulls, this effect was more accentuated over 67% substitution level. Resumo: Objetivou-se com esse trabalho avaliar a influência de quatro níveis de substituição (0; 33; 67 e 100) do feno de capim tifton 85 pela casca de mamona em rações sobre o desempenho de ovinos mestiços de Morada Nova, machos, inteiros, com peso vivo médio de 20,3 kg e idade média de 7 meses. O delineamento experimental empregado foi inteiramente casualisado com quatro tratamentos e cinco repetições. Além do volumoso (feno de capim-tifton 85 e a casca de mamona), foi fornecida ração concentrada, que equivalia a 50% da dieta ofertada. O confinamento durou 70 dias, sendo 14 de adaptação e 56 dias de coleta. Foram obtidas diferenças entre os níveis de substituição para o consumo de matéria seca em g/animal x dia, % PV/dia, g/kg0,75, para o ganho de peso total, ganho médio diário e para o número de dias para ganhar 12 kg, sendo que o nível de 100% de substituição foi inferior aos demais para todas essas variáveis, exceto o D12, cujo comportamento foi inverso. A análise de regressão apresentou efeito linear decrescente dos níveis de substituição sobre todas essas variáveis exceto D12, que apresentou comportamento linear crescente. Para a conversão alimentar não foi obtida diferença significativa ente os tratamentos, tendo apresentado uma média de 6,1 kg de ração consumidos para um ganho de 1 kg de peso vivo. Apesar de haver redução progressiva no consumo e desempenho com a substituição do feno de capim-tifton 85 pela casca de mamona, esse efeito tornou-se bem mais acentuado acima de 67% de substituição. Rapid tests that allow the assessment of physiological potential are essential parameters for quality seed and seedling production programs. The aim of this work was to establish parameters of a method for evaluating the vigor of seeds of native species through the analysis of ethanol production, measured with a modified alcohol meter. Six lots of Myracrodruon urundeuva were tested, and for each lot 1.0 g and 2.0 g of seeds were soaked for two, four, six, eight and 24 hours. Seven lots of Cenostigma pyramidale and five lots of Amburana cearensis were tested, where 20 seeds were soaked for two, four, six, eight and 24 h. The physiological quality of the seeds was also evaluated by germination and electrical conductivity tests. The use of 1.0 g of seeds soaked in 0.5 mL of water and evaluation of ethanol at six hours distinguished lots of M. urundeuva in terms of vigor. For C. pyramidale and A. cearensis, 20 seeds soaked in 1.0 mL of water and ethanol evaluation at six hours proved to be more efficient. The ethanol test proved to be fast and accurate, allowing differentiation of lots, as well as germination and electrical conductivity tests. |
