A brief general description is given of the physiography and climate of tropical north-wes-
tern Australia, followed by data on the plant formations of which twelve are recognized. Comparisons are drawn with plant formations of tropical Africa and there is an endeavour to equate with the standardized types of the Scientific Council for Africa South of the Sahara (1956) and to adapt their terminology. Comparisons with tropical America are discussed in conclusion. |
