Nematodes are one of the most abundant of all animal groups. As pathogens, they cause a great economic impact, leading to meaningful loss specially in agriculture. The combat to these organisms can be done, first of all, by its precise identification, that is, the correct diagnosis. The aim of this work is to describe an approach to nematode classification through the identification of morphometric and morphologic features from digitized images. It proposes a treatment involving digital image processing techniques which creates new images where the nematode is rectified (as a straight line). It discuss the suitability of the new image for data extraction, which is better than the original image. After, a feature analysis is done taking as basis data generated during the rectification process. Specifically, the extern shape and the length of the nematode are the features on focus. Finally, it discuss about information loss and application possibilities of the rectified images and the analyzed features. |
