Abstract: Brazilian poultry production is supported in new technology use. Until 20th century end related to management, genetic, nutrition and health. Nowadays turned to buildings with environmental and lightening control. The study objective is to evaluate performance of poultry houses models and economic results. Data obtained for nine units located in Santa Catarina and Parana states. The models were of Dark-house (DH), Blue House (BH), Negative pressure (PN), Positive pressure (PP) and Manual with sizes of 790, 1200, 1560, 1750 and 2400 m2. The rate of return on invested capital was negative for facilities without temperature control, having only fans. Units with larger building area and lighting and/or temperature control had higher rate of return. Even with increasing profitability due to the degree of buildings and equipment modernization it is not possible to choose a unique system as ideal. Worker´s skills also affect the efficiency. Additional studies are need in the future to define the best model. The amount of intramuscular fat can influence the sensory characteristics and nutritional value of beef, thus the selection of animals with adequate fat deposition is important to the consumer. There is growing knowledge about the genes and pathways that control the biological processes involved in fat deposition in muscle. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) belong to a well-conserved class of non-coding small RNAs that modulate gene expression across a range of biological functions in animal development and physiology. The aim of this study was to identify differentially expressed (DE) miRNAs, regulatory candidate genes and co-expression networks related to intramuscular fat (IMF) deposition. To achieve this, we used mRNA and miRNA expression data from the Longissimus dorsi muscle of 30 Nelore steers with high (H) and low (L) genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) for IMF deposition |
